Noggin and I really enjoyed our time at South Hadley Public Library. We love visiting libraries and making new friends. Thanks for hosting us! See you up the trail…

Saturday + your local public library + Noggin, the sled dog = FUN
Shelby County Public Library in Shelbyville, Indiana rocks! Last Saturday, some serious Iditarod fans joined us to talk trail. Thanks for having us!

LOVE! Lennox perfectly sums up the “why?” of our sport. Mushers LOVE dogs. Period. There’s nothing better than exploring wild places with our best friends and family—the dogs. Yes, it’s love!

MUSH! I adore all of the thank you cards and drawings I received in the mail from the students of Anchorage Public School, Anchorage, Kentucky. It’s wonderful to see how students transform my stories into art. Their accuracy and creativity is amazing!

HOLD ON TIGHT! This dog team is about to head down a VERY steep mountain. This drawing’s perspective is awesome! The artist portrays what it looks and feels like standing on the sled runners behind a very long string of sled dogs.

So much space… my beautiful string running Norton Sound, Iditarod 2004.

It’s definitely school talk season. And what an awesome day we had at the Anchorage School in Anchorage, Kentucky!
Most of the other schools in the Louisville area were closed due to the sub-zero wind chill, but NOT the Anchorage School!
It was the PERFECT day to learn about dog mushing across Alaska. Now the entire school knows how to stay safe and warm when it’s so frigid your breath flash-freezes mid-air and the snow squeak-squeaks beneath your boots.
Thank you to Robin Bowman, Media Center Specialist, for inviting us! And thanks for making Chloe feel so at home up on the stage with Noggin, the Alaskan husky. It’s not every day my beloved corgi-springer mix (a.k.a. official bed-warmer) gets to share the spotlight with the sled dogs.
Mushing on to our next talk… happy trails from Karen, Noggin, and Chloe!

Contact Noggin and Karen at mymusher@yahoo.com (please put “Iditarod” in the subject line) to reserve your space on their 2019 Dog Mushing Talk Tour.
Think you live too far off the trail? It never hurts to ask! Karen, Noggin, and Chloe are ready for a road trip! Mush!
… is resting up for her school and public library visits. For more information, email her at mymusher@yahoo.com. She’ll respond when she awakes (dinner time).
VISITING SOUTH HOLLAND PUBLIC LIBRARY …

… PRAIRIE CENTRAL ELEMENTARY, THAT IS!
We enjoyed our return visit to Fairbury, Illinois. A big thanks to Lisa Lange for arranging our visit (and YES, you should apply to be the Iditarod Teacher on the Trail!).
Thank you to the artists: Brianna, Brenna, Lainie, Sklar, and Mia. We ADORED the sign you made for us!
